Braun Apple Braun collectors like myself have known for a long time where some of the ideas came from that led to the perforated-aluminium-look of some Apple computers. I took a few photographs of my world receiver T1000 from 1962 (!). Radii and perforations look almost identical to the ones on a MacBook Pro or a MacPro, 45 years later. Simpsonize Me: clever stuff, you feed the site a passport-like photo and it uses face-recognition technology to match cartoon elements, converting you into a Simpsons character. It works remarkably well!
The website was conceived by Equity Marketing (LA) for Crispin Porter + Bogusky — previously responsible for the Subservient Chicken — and their client, Burger King. It was created by Cortona and uses face-recognition technology from BetaFace.

House Industries have a $50-off sale on until the 15th September, which includes the exceptional typefaces Chalet, Neutraface and Paperback. I wish I had enough spare cash to justify buying a set of one of these, they’re beautiful, versatile faces, and currently a bit of a bargain.
Eight ways to drive a graphic designer mad is genuinely funny, in a slightly depressingly true sort of way.

I’m not really a fan of CAPTCHAs as all too often they’re inaccessible to disabled users, but I must admit to being impressed by the ingenuity of reCAPTCHA. They provide plugins for most popular web software for you to use as you would normally, but the twist is that each correctly supplied word helps to digitise books by using human input to convert the scanned type; a task that people are good at but computers find difficult. Clever!
Apologies for the lack of posts, a mountainboarding crash resulted in me snapping my collarbone and subsequently I’ve been laid up for a few days.
