Ringo Deathstarr

Ringo Deathstarr

Simon, who’s a friend from way back, runs an MP3 blog you may have heard of called Spoilt Victorian Child. He’s also got a little record label, aptly titled SVC Records. Today he released Ringo Deathstarr’s debut EP and it’s bloody brilliant. Here’s a sample track:

Firmware hack unlocks features on Canon cameras

If you’ve got a recent Canon digital compact, this DIGIC II firmware hack may be of interest. It unlocks several hidden features, such as support for RAW, a live histogram and a DoF calculator, and is “hot loaded” so there shouldn’t be any danger to your camera.

Simpsonize Me!

Me as a Simpsons character

Simpsonize Me: clever stuff, you feed the site a passport-like photo and it uses face-recognition technology to match cartoon elements, converting you into a Simpsons character. It works remarkably well!

The website was conceived by Equity Marketing (LA) for Crispin Porter + Bogusky — previously responsible for the Subservient Chicken — and their client, Burger King. It was created by Cortona and uses face-recognition technology from BetaFace.

Wildlife photographer of the year stripped of his award | The Guardian. I remember being blown away when I first saw this image – it’s an astounding capture – and thought it rightfully deserved to win the Natural History Museum’s 2009 prize. Unfortunately, though, it appears that the photographer, rather than camping out for months in the wild, instead cheated and hired a tame wolf. Oh!
